Martin Munroe is a self-taught artist born in 1977 in North Tarrytown, New York. He graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School in 1994, moved to Oakland, California, in 1996, returned to New York in 2007, and has been creating art in many forms since childhood. His paintings plumb the depths of consciousness and imagination and report back with their findings. Much of his creative output concerns spirituality and the myriad forms that it can take; themes of vivid color, strong imagery, and esoteric symbology are often exhibited. While the meaning of his work is ultimately for the viewer to decide for themselves, Martin hopes to foster a sense of connection to and identification with them. However, whether he succeeds or not is irrelevant; regardless of the various opinions his work provokes, it remains imperative that he continue on his artistic and spiritual journey. He lives and paints in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
